ICELAND
“Land of Fire and Ice”
Iceland, often referred to as “the land of fire and ice,” is an exceptionally unique destination that I have had the privilege of visiting on six separate occasions between 2016 and 2022. My most recent visit concluded only a few weeks ago, and several of the images captured during this particular expedition have significantly transformed my photographic journey over the past six years.
Iceland boasts a diverse landscape that encompasses stunning waterfalls, barren volcanic ash regions, and lava fields spanning vast areas. The country’s dramatic landscapes are captivating wherever you look, whether you are exploring inland highlands or venturing to the southern coastal regions. These regions feature impressive waterfalls and stunning coastlines with towering sea stacks reaching several hundred feet, perpetually battered by violent waves.
During this visit, I carried an infrared camera, a specialised device designed to capture infrared light. Initially uncertain about its potential, I decided to experiment with this unique equipment. Surprisingly, some of the infrared images I captured were remarkably stunning. Several of the black-and-white images below showcase infrared imagery, providing a unique perspective on Iceland’s captivating landscapes.
